Andrew
Klopper your guide and the driving force behind 4x4 in Africa was
born in Cape Town and has spent most of his life living there. He is
married to Sue and they have 3 teenage children, two boys and a
girl. Andrew has always been passionate about the outdoors, fishing,
wildlife and seeing new places, meeting new friends and experiencing
life in its uncluttered form.
A
visit to friends
teaching at a school at Andara in the Caprivi Strip in 1987 and a
quick visit to Victoria falls and Chobe wet his appetite for
exploring Botswana, Zimbabwe and beyond. In 1999 the purchase of a
Landrover Defender allowed him and his family to begin to make the
dreams of travel to remote places in Africa become reality. He very
soon embarked on a trip to Livingstone in Zambia with his two boys
shortly and explored the Chobe game reserve. Watching young male
lions feeding from the carcass of a young buffalo from close by with
my two boys next to me on the roof of the Landrover, the three of us
waking up in the middle of the night and creeping out of the rooftop
tent to watch Hippos feeding right next to the vehicle are memories
that live with me as highlights in my relationship with my sons.
He
has since undertaken trips to Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi and
Botswana and will be extending operations into Angola and Mozambique
in the near future. Andrew is an accomplished cook and you can look
forward to varied, wholesome food and plenty of it when traveling
with him. He regularly bakes bread on his trips and can be known to
cook a fiendishly hot but extremely tasty Thai green curry for
dinner on occasion.
